Derry The old walled city lies on the west bank of the River Foyle, which is spanned by two major road bridges and one footbridge. The city district extends to rural areas to the southeast of the city.

The population of the city of Derry is now in excess of 85,000, while the Derry Urban Area has a population approaching 100,000. In recent years there has been a notable drive to increase investment in the city, with digital industries fairing particularly well.
